Kevin Huang ’05 Uses Life Insurance Beneficiary Designation to Establish Lawrenceville Legacy

Kevin Huang ’05

Lawrenceville was always on the radar for Kevin Huang ’05 and his family, so he was thrilled when he was offered admission for fall 2001. Then the tech bubble burst, and he wasn’t sure he’d be able to attend. When Lawrenceville provided the scholarship aid he needed, he knew the support of generous donors made it possible.

Kevin went on to Princeton and a career in finance, and he never forgot the gift he was given. He knew of the John Cleve Green Society through his work as a class agent and reunion volunteer, and he knew planned giving offered the opportunity to make the same kind of difference for others.

“Seven or eight years ago, I started to think about life insurance and realized I could make Lawrenceville a beneficiary,” he says.

“I’m sure I have classmates who are looking at life insurance at this point,” he continues. “Even if it’s just 5, 10, 20% of a policy, making the School a beneficiary can have a huge impact. I think most people, especially younger people, don’t even know it’s an option—the same with a 401(k).” Kevin is using his insurance policy to establish the Kevin H. Huang ’05 Scholarship and his own Lawrenceville legacy.

“It’s never too early to think about the footprint you want to leave with institutions you care about,” he says. “Lawrenceville has given me so much. It was a really easy decision to supplement my more direct giving with a planned gift.”
